Crusaders
The Crusaders are a group of senior members of Crossroads and other churches in the area. We are always seeking new members and we enthusiastically encourage anyone of any age to join us.
We meet:
- 1st Tuesday of each month
- 9:00 am

We strive, as a group, to continue spreading the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through the various mission projects that we support. We also have a ministry to our sick and shut-in friends through our prayers, visitation, sending cards, and other projects throughout the year. We are active in projects that support Crossroads such as altar care and upkeep of the Meditation Garden.
We earn money to support our mission projects by making apple butter in September and October and participation in the annual yard sale and other projects. Some mission projects that we have and still do support are the food pantry at Crossroads, Hope House for Women, Red Bird Mission, Holston Home, and the program to help less fortunate school children. The Crusaders were also instrumental in starting the prayer cloth ministry at Crossroads.
If you want to be a part of an active group that love and support each other and reach out to our brothers and sisters outside the church, please join us. We would love to have you!
Silver Sounds
The Silver Sounds is a multi-denominational choir of seniors and younger adults that love to sing the old hymns of the church. We even have 1 teenager that sings with us now. Our mission is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through our music. We welcome anyone that would like to join us. We have sung in churches and cathedrals in Germany and Austria. We sang one year at Lake Junaluska for Holston Annual Conference and we have sung at churches from Rock Hill, TN to Princeton, WV. We sing several times per month at assisted living and nursing homes. Chris Newman is our director and Carol Hubble is our pianist. If you would like to join us, just come to Crossroads UMC at 6:00pm on Tuesday evenings for practice.
